2027 Ford Explorer

For 2027, the Explorer introduces new exterior colors (Ruby Red and Avalanche Gray) and options (including the ST Sinister and 3.0L Ultimate packages). Plus, the Panoramic Vista Roof returns, and the upscale Platinum trim is once again available with the 400-horsepower engine upgrade!

While last year’s Explorer Platinum wasn’t available with the 3.0-liter V6 engine upgrade, the 2027 model is! When buyers opt to upgrade, the new 3.0L Ultimate Package is also included. It pairs extra strength with high-end styling, adding premium leather seating surfaces, chrome-tipped quad exhaust tips, and 21-inch Dark Alloy-painted wheels.

Plus, every 2027 Explorer comes with a one-year subscription to the Ford Security Package. Its theft alerts and start-inhibit technology will help you track (and hopefully recover!) a stolen Explorer. You can also pay a one-time fee to enjoy these features for a minimum of seven years from your warranty-start date.

A new retail version of the Tremor, known as the Tremor 810A, joins the lineup for 2027. Compared to the base Tremor (aka the Tremor 800A), this new version comes with both performance and luxury upgrades. Highlights include the 3.0-liter V6 engine upgrade, BlueCruise hands-free driving hardware (along with a 90-day trial), and an open-on approach rear liftgate.

And finally, a few features have been deleted from the lineup. Space White exterior paint is no longer available (though you can still enjoy the cooling effects of a light-colored Explorer with Star White). And after only a year on the options list, the fixed-glass roof has been retired. The Panoramic Vista Roof — which, unlike the fixed-glass roof it replaces, can be cracked open for drop-top vibes — returns to replace it.

Like the name suggests, the new ST Sinister Package is available for Explorer ST, giving this performance-based trim model a slick look to accompany its sport-tuned performance. The performance-based Explorer ST already comes standard with some flashy exterior upgrades, but the ST Sinister Package makes it stand out even more, thanks to items like 21-inch Gloss Black wheels, Amber LED daytime running lamps, and Red badging.
